#R1# Cortez throws a head kick but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Cortez counters with a big head kick but Johnson shrugs it off. Johnson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cortez. Cortez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Nice sprawl there from Cortez as Johnson shoots in. Tuco Cortez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Johnson. Cortez feints and then cracks Johnson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Johnson down. Cortez lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. An inside leg kick lands from Cortez. Good leg kick by Cortez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Cortez stuffs the takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet. As Johnson backs away, Cortez returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cortez pinned against the cage. Cortez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A quick step to the side and Cortez tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cortez as he avoids it easily. We've been told by Cortez's head coaches at Valhalla Iron Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Cortez throws out a powerful jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Cortez lands with a hook. Johnson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. #T1# Cortez connects with a solid leg kick. Johnson darts in looking for a takedown but Cortez gets double underhooks and turns Johnson into the cage. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Cortez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Both fighters circling a little - Cortez finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt. Cortez wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Johnson looks winded! Cortez lands a leg kick that knocks Johnson off balance momentarily. Nice body kick from Cortez. Johnson has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Cortez. Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Cortez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Cortez goes for a high kick. It partially lands. This has been an exciting period of action! Cortez lands a high kick!

Cortez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.#T2# Johnson goes for a double leg but Cortez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cortez continues to drive forward. Johnson's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Cortez lands a leg kick that knocks Johnson off balance momentarily. Johnson shoots in and drives through. Cortez sprawls well. Johnson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Johnson tries for a takedown but Cortez circles away easily and Cortez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cortez connects with a body shot. Cortez with a body punch. A glancing blow. A solid leg kick lands there for Cortez.

Cortez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson. Cortez looks to land a combination. Cortez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Johnson momentarily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.#SUB# Cortez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Johnson defends well.#SUB# Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cortez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Cortez's legs - danger averted. Cortez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cortez tries to get out of the position.#T4# Johnson passes Cortez's left leg - he's now in half guard. Johnson is trying to control. Cortez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Johnson is taking a breather. Cortez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Johnson trying to control from Cortez's half guard. Cortez has other ideas though and has regained full guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cortez trying to control the position.
Cortez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Johnson is stalling in the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We're back to striking at a distance. Tuco Cortez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Johnson. Johnson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Cortez explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Cortez jabs Johnson right on the nose. Johnson blinks but takes it well. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Johnson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Cortez - the referee stops the clock and Johnson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Cortez. Johnson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Good shot there by Cortez. Cortez lands a head kick!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Johnson with a poor takedown and Cortez counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Johnson thinking. #KD# Cortez lands a big head kick that sends Johnson tumbling to the mat! Cortez takes a step backwards and waves Johnson back to his feet - he wants the finish!#ROC# Johnson is rocked! Cortez looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Cortez backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Johnson's temple! It sends Johnson violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Cortez celebrates and the doctors try to help Johnson!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Tuco Cortez! Tuco Cortez tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.

Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Balayan counters with a straight right hand. Johnson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Balayan cracks Johnson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Roy Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Crunch! Balayan slams his shin into Johnson's torso. Balayan scores with a jab to the body. Balayan scores with a kick to the body.
Johnson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Johnson is breathing heavily. Johnson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Johnson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Balayan. Johnson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Balayan can pounce on him.

Not this time though. Munoz is working hard here to advance position. Johnson wants to control but Munoz is keeping him busy. Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Munoz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. #SUB# Munoz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson seems keen to control McLovin's posture. Johnson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson is pulling down on McLovin's head to control his posture. Johnson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from McLovin. #T1# McLovin looking to pass the guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
