The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nabiyev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Nabiyev lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Whitehead looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nabiyev working the head and body with strikes. Whitehead wants to get back to his feet. Whitehead is looking to improve his position.
Nabiyev controlling the action here. Nabiyev takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nabiyev trying to control the action but Whitehead is working from the bottom. Nabiyev is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.#T1# Whitehead is staying active underneath Nabiyev, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Nabiyev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Nabiyev lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Whitehead is looking to escape. Whitehead is refusing to be controlled, as Nabiyev sits in half guard. #ES# The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Whitehead has one foot on Nabiyev's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.#TD2# Nabiyev closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Whitehead's guard. Nabiyev controlling from the top position. Nabiyev with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Nabiyev working some strikes from top position. Nabiyev showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Nabiyev is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. #ROC2# Whitehead is rocked! Nabiyev trying to control but Whitehead is working from the bottom. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nabiyev postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Oh Whitehead is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!#T3# Nabiyev controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Nabiyev distracts Whitehead with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Nabiyev cracks Whitehead with a solid left hand. Nabiyev loads up on a big left hand. Whitehead felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Nabiyev looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Whitehead can't hide his disappointment, as Nabiyev celebrates the victory.
