#R1# Cormier misses with an uppercut. Cormier missing with a left hand there. Romero was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Cormier takes a swing at Romero's ribcage but misses. Cormier misses with a straight left. Cormier smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Romero takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
#ROC# Romero is rocked! BAM! Cormier delivers a spinning backfist that drops Romero like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

#R1# Romero swings for the body but Cook moves out of range.
Romero with a lazy takedown attempt and Cook connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Cook lands a jab to the nose. Joel Romero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Romero tries a head kick but it misses.
Cook uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Romero throws a head kick that misses. A countering left hand to the body from Cook misses. Romero throws a combination that misses enabling Cook to counter with a crisp jab. Romero takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Romero tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cook defends well and Romero ends up having to push Cook into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Cook goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cook ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Cook connects with a body shot that sends Romero's belly button to the back. No joy there for Cook, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

#TD# Romero shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cook's guard. Romero is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Romero prevents Cook from getting back to his feet. Cook keeping full guard, as Romero tries to pass. Cook wants to stand but Romero is controlling the position. #ES2# Cook uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Romero throws a body punch but Cook moves out of range. #TD# Romero closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Romero lands in his opponent's guard. Romero stops Cook from standing up. #T2# Romero missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. #SU# Cook is working an open guard so Romero takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!#TD# Romero scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Romero taking a breather here. Cook is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Romero asserts his dominance and retains side control.#SUB# Romero has an Americana. Cook didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Romero is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Romero hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

#TD# Romero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Detuncq did well to prevent Romero getting side control. Detuncq tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Romero manages to move to mount!
#SU# Romero gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! A nice combination there by Detuncq.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Romero throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. #CL# and Romero moves into the clinch. Romero has Detuncq pressed against the cage, preventing Detuncq from circling away and getting back to striking at range.#TD# Romero successfully pulls guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Romero is on top in guard.

Detuncq lands with a slapping head kick. Romero blocks a head kick by Detuncq.

Detuncq tries to kick Romero off but Romero keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Romero scoring with strikes to the body and head. #T2# This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Romero not doing much here.

#TD# Romero manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Detuncq on his heels. He'll look to pass Detuncq's guard now, I'm sure. Detuncq wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Romero manages to pass to side control. #REVB# Romero takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Detuncq really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Romero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#T3# Romero really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Romero is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Romero lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Romero working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Romero content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. #T4# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.#SU# Romero decides to stand up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joel Romero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Detuncq fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Romero checks it well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Detuncq showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Romero.
#TD# Romero feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Detuncq is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Romero dives into side control.

Romero locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Detuncq is forced to tap!
