Spears postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it. Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spears manages to get himself to full guard.
#REVB# Spears has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Spears looking for a sweep. Not yet Spears, not yet. Jones wanted to stand there but Spears had control of the position. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jones's corner. There ya go! There ya go! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Spears is looking to sweep but instead, Jones has passed into half guard.

It looked like Spears was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Spears shoots for a double leg takedown but McCormick sprawls well. He's pushed Spears's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. McCormick looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Danga de danga de dang - McCormick scores with a four punch combination!#CUT2# It looks like Palmer Spears has been cut. Connor McCormick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Spears shoots in for a takedown but McCormick shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.#KD2# McCormick drops Spears with a beautiful combination! Spears stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - McCormick is looking for the KO!#ROC2# Spears is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McCormick closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Spears out cold! Spears corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

Spears might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Spears makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spears chips away with some ground and pound. Spears scoring with some ground and pound. Spears working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. #ROC# Hillson is rocked! Hillson has momentary wrist control but Spears slips an elbow through the middle. Hillson is still in real trouble! Can Spears finish him? Spears gets to his feet and stands over Hillson, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Hillson felt that one! Spears unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Hillson from any more punishment!
