#R1# Applegate tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McDaniels defends well and Applegate ends up having to push McDaniels into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Applegate dives in for a single leg takedown but McDaniels sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. McDaniels misses with a looping right. Applegate throws a head kick but McDaniels moves out of range.
Nice defenses there by Applegate. Applegate appears to be looking for a counter takedown. McDaniels should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Applegate slips a straight right by McDaniels. McDaniels is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Applegate. McDaniels displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Applegate. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Applegate. That's going to take a lot out of him. Applegate moves out of range as McDaniels strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McDaniels misses with a body shot.
