Westrock is fighting off a takedown attempt but Anderson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Westrock to the mat. Westrock regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Westrock felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Bob leaves Anderson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Anderson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dansville napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Dansville looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Dansville is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Dansville refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Dansville's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
