#R1##TD2# Rieger shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rieger was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!#ES# Mathews sneaks out the side door and pushes Rieger away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.#TD2# A momentary lapse in concentration from Mathews enables Rieger to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mathews manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.#ES# Mathews wriggles free and stands up. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!#TD2# Rieger closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rieger lands in his opponent's guard. Mathews could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Rieger engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. #SUB# Mathews has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rieger can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. #T1# Rieger stopping the sweep attempt from Mathews. Rieger is stalling in the full guard. Rieger wants to stand but Mathews has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Mathews looking for a sweep. Not yet Mathews, not yet. #T2# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rieger sitting in guard here, content to control. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Mathews lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.#REVR# Mathews prevents Rieger from getting back to his feet. Rieger wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Rieger tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rieger is on top in guard.

Mathews is not content to let Rieger control the position. Mathews is trying to escape back to his feet but Rieger uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Mathews knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rieger on the ground. Rieger content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Kevin Rieger will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! #R2# Rieger throws a head kick that misses letting Mathews counter with a right hand. #TD2# Rieger shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rieger showed some decent athleticism there. #ES# Mathews kicks Rieger off and gets back to his feet.#TD2# Mathews tries to sprawl but Rieger drives through with a takedown into half guard. Mathews scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Rieger manages to mount him!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mathews tries to hold on but Rieger pushes him away. Rieger controlling the position easily from mount. #T1# Mathews tries to reverse the position but Rieger maintains control. Mathews is squirming around, avoiding Rieger's attempts to control the action. Mathews is in all sorts of trouble here.
#SUB2# Rieger working for a guillotine from mount but Mathews is in no mood to give up. Mathews in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Rieger throwing strikes here but Mathews is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
#T2# Mathews can't escape the position.
Rieger controlling the pace for now. #SUB2# Rieger swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mathews is now in Rieger's guard. A big mistake from Rieger there, giving up the dominant position! Rieger is trying to control the position but Mathews postures up. #SUB2# Mathews avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
#SUB2# Rieger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mathews doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mathews manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. #T3# Mathews is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Mathews scoring with some ground and pound. Mathews trying to control the position from guard on top but Rieger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rieger wants to stand but Mathews is controlling the position. #T4# Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mathews throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rieger works some decent striking defense from the bottom. #SUB2# Rieger is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mathews is aware though and is defending well. Mathews stopping the sweep attempt from Rieger. Kevin Rieger has got the better of the ground game so far. Rieger trying to control the position here. Rieger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. #REVB# And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin Rieger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round! #R3##CL2# Rieger closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mathews is trying to force a seperation but Rieger has the dominant position.#TD2# Rieger wants the takedown. Mathews is fighting it off but Rieger persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Mathews's guard against the cage. Mathews is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Rieger dives into side control.
#REVR# Rieger tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Mathews being controlled for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rieger wants to stand but Mathews is controlling his arm.#T1# Mathews is trying to escape the position but Rieger is controlling the position. Rieger misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Rieger staying calm.#SU2# Rieger decides to stand back up. Rieger steps back and let's Mathews get back to his feet.#T2# There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.#CL2# Rieger gets a clinch. Rieger holding his opponent close, against the cage.
#BC2# Rieger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rieger is staying tight to Mathews's torso, preventing him from escaping. #T3# Rieger wants to control but Mathews is keeping him busy. Rieger working the head and body with strikes. Rieger tries to score with some ground and pound. Mathews controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. The ground and pound from Rieger seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Rieger just content to control the position. Mathews knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Rieger has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Rieger is looking to take a break and control but Mathews is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mathews can't do much from the bottom here. Geraldo Mathews has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kevin Rieger is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rieger in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
And that's the end of the fight! Kevin Rieger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Rieger winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
