That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Tan working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sveshnikov's head. Tan with a nice head shot there. Tan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. Smarks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sveshnikov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Sveshnikov is looking for a sweep. Smarks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sveshnikov gets back to full guard.
Smarks has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sveshnikov with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Smarks can't handle though.

Sveshnikov slips nicely into half guard. Sveshnikov stops Bell from getting back to his feet.
