#R1##TD# De Silva scores with a takedown into John's guard. De Silva being controlled here momentarily. John trying to keep a closed guard but De Silva is proving a slippery customer.
De Silva definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. De Silva trying to control but John is working from the bottom. John controls De Silva momentarily but De Silva frees himself. John tries to strike from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. John is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. John tries to strike from the bottom.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.#T1##SUB2# John has his foot on De Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. De Silva works his way back into a safe position though.#REF3# The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.#CL2# John forces De Silva back against the cage and clinches. John is trying to pull guard but De Silva turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. De Silva being controlled against the cage. De Silva is trying to work for a single leg takedown but John pulls him back up using the underhooks. John goes for a takedown attempt but De Silva pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
John shoots in and drives through. De Silva sprawls well. Kim De Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John John.#CL2# John has managed to clinch.
#TD# De Silva has dropped down and is working for a takedown. John is trying to keep an underhook but De Silva manages to get the takedown into half guard.#T2# De Silva is looking to advance position but John won't allow it. De Silva is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. John really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. De Silva thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. #SU# De Silva decides to stand and escape the position. John tries to close the distance and clinch up but De Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center. John throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.#CL2# John fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with De Silva, pushing him back against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! John tries to score a body lock takedown but De Silva shows good agility there to stay on his feet. John jumps guard but De Silva stands there with John around his waist. John gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

De Silva is looking to take this one to the mat.#TD# De Silva tightens his grip and picks John up, before dumping him to the ground. John manages to land in guard. De Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. De Silva is breathing heavily. John keeping moving, preventing De Silva from controlling successfully. John working a defensive guard here.
De Silva is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.#T4# De Silva working some strikes from top position.#SUB2# John working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. De Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. De Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. #SUB# De Silva drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. De Silva seems to have locked his on tight now - John screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for De Silva, as he picks up the win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Kim De Silva! A very excited looking Kim De Silva rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

#R1##TD# John bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. We've been hearing that John has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. You can see the frustration on Gracie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gracie is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but John is staying active. Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but John wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! John is in trouble now - Gracie has advanced to mount! #SUB2# Gracie has hold of John's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and John manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. John is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
John sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Gracie trying to control the action but John is working from the bottom. #SUB2# Gracie is working for a kimura but John is defending it quite comfortably.
#T1# John tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control. Gracie moves into full mount! John won't be happy about that! #SUB2# Gracie working for a submission but John is keeping him at bay. #SUB2# Gracie jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… John is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by John and Gracie has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
#SUB2# Gracie has an Americana. John didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gracie is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gracie hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Royce Gracie! An out of breath Royce Gracie thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.

#R1# John takes a kick to the side of the head.#CUT# It looks like John John has been cut. A head kick by Baker - that's a beauty! John is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Baker can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Humphrey Baker! Jumping up and down and very excited, Humphrey Baker waved his t-shirt featuring Machine Fight Gear's logo in front of the cameras.
