#R1# Masters takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Ray Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Masters takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Masters takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Masters throws a chopping leg kick but Shaw manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Masters tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Shaw is able to avoid easily. Shaw closes the distance looking to clinch #TD# and Masters counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Shaw trying to hold on to Masters's head to control him but Masters postures up.
Shaw slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Masters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shaw swivels though and keeps the full guard. Masters is pushing down on Shaw's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shaw is fighting to maintain full guard but Masters has managed to sneak the leg through.#T1# Masters is taking a breather. Shaw says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Shaw is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Masters scores with a couple of nice shots. Masters scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Masters has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Masters lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Masters landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaw tries a knee to the head but Mallorga blocks it.

Shaw's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. #R1# Shaw throws a predictable looking body shot
and Cotton counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Shaw throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Cotton fails to land the takedown. Cotton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shaw circles away. Shaw let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Cotton avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cotton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cotton ducks under a wild hook from Shaw. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cotton checks a low kick from Shaw. Shaw leaves Cotton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon Cotton. That's going to take a lot out of him.#T1# Shaw throws the kick towards the body but Cotton avoids it.#TD# Cotton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.#SUB# Cotton tries for a kimura but Shaw is defending well. Cotton throws an elbow but Shaw slips to the side and avoids it well. Cotton working the ground and pound. Cotton scores with a couple of short elbows. Cotton works to advance to full mount. Shaw defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. #SUB# Cotton jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Shaw manages to avoid the submission attempt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cotton controlling the position. #T2# Cotton working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Shaw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cotton. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Cotton tries to score with some ground and pound. Shaw controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. #SUB# Cotton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. #T4# Cotton is staying tight to Shaw's torso, preventing him from escaping. Cotton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shaw for as long as he can get away with.
