The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Blanchard is not content to let Middle control the position. Blanchard is trying to control Middle's posture but Middle avoids it. Middle cracks Blanchard with a big right hand but Blanchard just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Middle is looking to take a break and control but Blanchard is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Blanchard is positioning himself to get back to half guard. #T1# Middle working away. Blanchard is not content to let Middle control the position. Blanchard is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Middle seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Blanchard has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. #SU# Blanchard has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Fabian Blanchard will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Middle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Blanchard does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Blanchard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Middle.
#T2# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Middle throws a head kick that Blanchard semi-blocks.
#TD# Blanchard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Middle's guard. Blanchard slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Blanchard content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Middle being controlled here, momentarily. #T3# Blanchard postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Middle has momentary wrist control but Blanchard slips an elbow through the middle. Blanchard controls from within his opponent's guard. Blanchard working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Middle's head. Blanchard is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.#SU# Blanchard decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Middle, up you get! #TD# Blanchard closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Middle did well to prevent Blanchard getting side control.#T4# Blanchard perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. #SU# Blanchard stands up and beckons Middle to join him on the feet. #TD# Blanchard feints and as Middle raises his hands in defense, Blanchard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Blanchard sitting in guard, not really doing much. #SU# Blanchard gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. #TD# Blanchard closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Blanchard winds up and cracks Middle with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Middle is trying to maintain the position but Blanchard is very close to passing his half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Fabian Blanchard showed his dominance in that final round. I think Blanchard has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
