and Stephens counters with a nice body shot. West closes the distance and lands a one-two. West throws a series of punches but Stephens avoids them all with ease. Stephens misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. West shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. West throws the left hand but Stephens avoids the punch easily. Stephens connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. No joy there for West, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stephens throws a sloppy head kick and West counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! West lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stephens circles away quickly and effectively. Stephens tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. West tries to bum rush Stephens with a series of wild strikes but Stephens uses good footwork to avoid the assault. West misses with a two punch combination.
Stephens tries to close the distance and clinch up but West swats him away and circles back towards the center. Stephens scores with a body shot.

Stephens is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. West really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. West showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stephens.

and Stephens makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. West shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stephens defends it nicely. Stephens fails with a takedown attempt. Stephens goes for a double leg but West avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as West continues to drive forward. West swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. West falls off balance throwing a combination

The crowd are getting on Stephens's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. West lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Samuel Stephens showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Stephens shoots for a double leg takedown but West sprawls well. He's pushed Stephens's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Chasen West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samuel Stephens. West misses with an uppercut. Stephens saw that one coming. West tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stephens sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten West somewhat. Stephens is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down West rather than just go for the knockout. West throws a combination. Stephens tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
