He's got his arms around Austin's waist but Austin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McShittor off to one side. Austin wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.#CL2# McShittor closes the distance and clinches. Both fighters working to control the clinch. McShittor managing to block the knees to the body from Austin.
#TD# Austin works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Austin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. McShittor doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Austin postures up.
McShittor throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. McShittor has his hands on Austin's head, controlling the position. Austin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. McShittor doesn't succeed with the takedown and Austin counters with a lovely straight right hand! McShittor looks winded! Austin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Austin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Conor McShittor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McShittor swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
