A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Trenchard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yonic has his hands on Trenchard's head, controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trenchard throwing strikes from guard but Yonic blocks nicely. It's a sloppy attempt though and Trenchard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Trenchard in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Trenchard postures up in Koniu's guard and throws a big left but Koniu blocks it. #SUB2# Trenchard thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Trenchard preventing the sweep. Koniu is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at St Petersburg MMA Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Koniu preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Trenchard postures up in Koniu's guard and throws a big left but Koniu blocks it. Koniu tries to land a sweep but no joy. Trenchard doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Koniu keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Vovchanchyn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Trenchard gets slowly back to his feet.#T4# Vovchanchyn paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Vovchanchyn stuffs the takedown attempt from Trenchard. Trenchard gets slowly back to his feet. Trenchard shoots in for a double leg but Vovchanchyn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. and Vovchanchyn counters with a one-two to the body. Vovchanchyn is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. A punch lands to the side of Trenchard 's head but he takes it in his stride. Vovchanchyn uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Trenchard. Trenchard shoots and misses and Vovchanchyn counters with a series of strikes. Trenchard will be more careful next time no doubt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Laney tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Trenchard defends well and Laney ends up having to push Trenchard into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Laney moves to clinch but Trenchard breaks away #TD2# and Trenchard counters with a single leg into guard. Laney didn't expect that. #ES# Laney pushes Trenchard off and gets back to his feet.
