He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. #SUB2# Palonesess is looking for a kimura but Carpe is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Palonesess to get the leverage. #SUB2# Palonesess is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carpe is just riding it out for now. Palonesess eventually gives up the hold. Palonesess tries to pass the half guard into mount. Carpe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. #SUB2# Palonesess is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Carpe doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Palonesess. #SUB2# Palonesess is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

We've been hearing that Carpe has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carpe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Carpe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Palonesess blocks a head kick by Carpe.
Palonesess tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Carpe shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Palonesess counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Carpe is lucky that one didn't land flush. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carpe is defended easily by Palonesess.#T4# Palonesess goes for a double leg but Carpe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carpe continues to drive forward. That was a close round but I would say that Justin Carpe will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Altintop Palonesess's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. #R1# Carpe shoots in and drives through. Masato sprawls well. Masato slaps away a takedown attempt from Carpe, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Masato. Carpe throws a right and a left that both miss. Masato appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Carpe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Masato sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carpe somewhat. Kugimiya Masato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Carpe. Horrible takedown attempt by Carpe or perhaps it was just good defense by Masato, which made it look bad. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carpe tries to avoid it but Stasiukas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carpe to the ground. Carpe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Carpe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Stasiukas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.#CL# Carpe drives through and clinches with Stasiukas against the cage.

Norris gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Norris pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Carpe lands a hook to the side of the head.#TD2# Norris wants the takedown. Carpe is fighting it off but Norris persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Carpe's guard against the cage. Norris has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carpe is proving hard to escape from. Carpe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Norris postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Norris works a leg free and moves into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB2# Norris is working for a submission of some sort.

Norris is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. A good leg kick by Carpe. Norris goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Carpe stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carpe wants it to stay on the feet. Carpe scores with a nice strike. Norris stuffs the takedown attempt from Carpe. Carpe throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Norris. Norris throws a jab but it's blocked by Carpe. Carpe fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

#R1# Carpe tries a head kick but it misses.
Rzasa drops down looking for a counter takedown but Carpe sprawls and moves away. Rzasa tries to close the distance and clinch but Carpe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Carpe shoots in looking for a takedown but Rzasa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carpe's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.#TD2# Carpe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rzasa throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Rzasa could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Carpe lands a couple of elbows. Carpe working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Rzasa is trying to control the position but Carpe postures up. #ES# Rzasa manages to escape and get back to his feet.

#SUB2# Carpe is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rzasa has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rzasa! Carpe tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rzasa lands a couple of decent looking shots. Rzasa throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Carpe's body to avoid the submission. Carpe has instead reached around Rzasa's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Carpe arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carpe walks away with a smile on his face. Yang gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Carpe!
#CUT2# It looks like King Yang has been cut. Carpe scores with a jab to the body. Carpe closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Yang! Carpe dives in looking to finish! Yang is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Justin Carpe! Justin Carpe was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
