#R1# Gracie shoots in but Gwent avoids the takedown attempt easily. Gracie has his takedown stuffed and Gwent counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Gwent looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Gwent tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gracie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Armando Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Gwent manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. George Gwent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Armando Gracie. Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gwent counters with a three punch combo that has Gracie backing up. Gracie nods at Gwent to acknowledge the strikes.#TD# Gwent looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gwent is thwarting Gracie's attempts to control the position. Gracie keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Gwent knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground. Gwent trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom. #T1# Gracie slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Gwent has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.#SUB2# Gracie has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Gwent should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gracie has tightened it up now! Gwent should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Armando Gracie! Armando Gracie decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. In defeat, George Gwent stepped up to the mic, saying 'I lost to the better man tonight but I will come back stronger than ever. Watch this space!'.
