#R1# Beecher stalks Jack and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jack's face. Jack staggers backwards, shaken. Jack lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Beecher backs up against the cage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jack is defended easily by Beecher. Beecher appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Jack has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.#CL# Jack fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Beecher, pushing him back against the cage. Beecher tries to stall but Jack uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jack goes for a takedown attempt but Beecher pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Beecher slaps away a takedown attempt from Jack, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for New Jack. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jack is breathing heavily. Nice jab there from Beecher. #T1# Beecher throws a right and a left that Jack avoids nicely. Beecher throws a right and a left that Jack avoids nicely. Beecher tests Jack's chin there with a solid looking shot. Beecher ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Beecher swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Beecher might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jack haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Beecher being controlled here, momentarily. Jack seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Beecher for as long as he can get away with.#T4# The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Beecher feints a jab promting Jack to slip. Beecher then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jack slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Beecher lands a right hook to the body.

Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Beecher regains full guard. Nicely done. Jack slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Beecher doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Paul Beecher is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fighters circle momentarily. Beecher darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to New Jack. I think Beecher has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

#R1# Jack dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Lewis dives in and grabs Jack's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jack pushes down on Lewis's head and hops out. Jack fires out a quick counter leg kick but Lewis just manages to avoid it.#TD# Jack dives in and scores a takedown into Lewis's guard.#SUB2# Lewis has his foot on Jack's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jack works his way back into a safe position though. Lewis controls Jack momentarily but Jack frees himself. Jack won't allow Lewis to get back to his feet. Jack looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Lewis has momentary wrist control but Jack slips an elbow through the middle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jack wants to get up but he can't break Lewis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. #T1# Jack seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Jack tries to free his leg and advance position but Lewis is retaining full guard. Lewis gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Lewis tries to lock up and control but Jack gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.#T4# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jack tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Jack throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lewis because Jack loaded up on that one. Jack controlling the pace for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jack has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jack tries to get out of the position. Lewis stopping the sweep attempt from Jack. Jack keeping moving, preventing Lewis from controlling successfully. Lewis prevents Jack from getting back to his feet. #T1# Lewis wants to control from the top but Jack keeps moving. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lewis working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Jack has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lewis has passed into side control.
Jack tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lewis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Lewis tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jack's legs. Jack struggling a bit here.#T2# Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jack tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Lewis easily slips into full mount! Jack holds on to Lewis around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks. Lewis sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Jack wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
