Kennedy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Kennedy is striking but Mullins is not phased and passes to half guard. Kennedy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB# Kennedy looking for submissions off his back. Kennedy throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Mullins prevents Kennedy from improving his position.#T1# Mullins slips a nice elbow through Kennedy's hands, connecting with Kennedy's forehead. Mullins thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Mullins is trying to control the action in half guard but Kennedy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Kennedy manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Mullins looking to pass the guard. Kennedy being controlled here, momentarily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB# Kennedy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Mullins trying to control the position from guard on top but Kennedy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. #SUB# Kennedy looking for a guillotine here but Mullins defends easily.
#T2# Kennedy looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kennedy has momentary wrist control but Mullins slips an elbow through the middle. Mullins passes Kennedy's left leg - he's now in half guard. Mullins is thwarting Kennedy's attempts to control the position. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Mullins has eaten all the pies! Mullins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kennedy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. #SUB2# Mullins seems to be working for a kimura but Kennedy defends the submission attempt. Kennedy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. #T3# Kennedy is working hard here to advance position. Kennedy has hold of Mullins's hands but Mullins slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Kennedy manages to get to full guard.
Mullins is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Mullins makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kennedy wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mullins is now in half guard. Kennedy is trying to get back to full guard. Mullins perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. #T4# Mullins takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.#ROC2# Kennedy is rocked!#CUT2# It looks like Jamie Kennedy has been cut. Mullins controlling the pace. Oh Kennedy is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Kennedy wants to get back to full guard but Mullins has passed into side control.#SUB2# Mullins wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kennedy, who protects the arm well. Kennedy seems to have got his legs back now. Mullins in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Kennedy looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Mullins turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
