Monroe tries to bum rush Alves with a series of wild strikes but Alves uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Monroe ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.#TD#
Alves shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Monroe's guard.
Monroe wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Alves manages to pass to side control. #REVB#

A very excited looking Edgar Alves rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

It looks like Joe might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Joe lands a big elbow - Monroe is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Joe!

Monroe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
