Merde throws a right hand that Sandoval ducks under and follows up with a left that Sandoval also avoids with ease. Merde closes the distance but Sandoval moves to the side #TD2# and Sandoval counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Sandoval stops Merde from getting back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Merde is trying to maintain the position but Sandoval is very close to passing his half guard.#SUB2# Sandoval is working for a submission of some sort.

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sandoval wants it to stay on the feet. Sandoval shoots and misses and Havret counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Havret shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sandoval eats them both and turns towards Havret to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Havret cracks Sandoval with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Sandoval ducks right into an uppercut from Havret. Sandoval shoots in for a takedown but Havret shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Norman Havret has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Sandoval takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.#KD# Havret feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Sandoval sprawling to the canvas! Sandoval rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Havret finish him?!
#ROC# Sandoval is rocked! Havret sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Sandoval's defenses. It connects perfectly with Sandoval's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

#R1# Monk lands a head shot. Sandoval's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Monk connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sandoval scrambles back to his feet. Sandoval walks into a left hand. #TD# Sandoval manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Monk on his heels. He'll look to pass Monk's guard now, I'm sure. Monk looking to control.
Sandoval engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#T1# The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.#SUB# Sandoval drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sandoval jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Sandoval is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T2# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Monk has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Sandoval with a flurry of punches that miss. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Monk throws a jab when Sandoval was well out of range. Sandoval gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Monk counter with a right hand. Jab by Monk. Monk scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. #TD# Sandoval shoots in and gets a takedown into Monk's guard.#SUB# Sandoval is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. #T3# Sandoval postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Sandoval advances position into side control! You can see the frustration on Monk's face as Sandoval controls the position. #SUB# Sandoval is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Monk is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. #SUB# Sandoval wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Monk, who protects the arm well. #T4# Sandoval controlling from side mount. Monk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sandoval. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Edwin Sandoval will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! #R2# Sandoval shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Monk as he jumps to the side. #TD# Sandoval gets the takedown into side control. Sandoval cracks Monk with a big elbow. #SUB# Sandoval has hold of Monk's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Monk seems comfortable defending it but Sandoval has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Monk is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Monk is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Sandoval couldn't care less - he's delighted!

#R1# Gregory misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sandoval changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.#TD2# Sandoval fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gregory sprawls well initially but Sandoval persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Sandoval sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gregory defending well though. Gregory wants to control but Sandoval is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sandoval content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Sandoval throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T1# Gregory is trying to get back to full guard. Gregory tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Sandoval has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Sandoval content just to control the position here. Sandoval avoids the attempt from Gregory to control. Gregory in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. #T2# Sandoval lands with some strikes. Gregory is in a horrible position here. Sandoval smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
#ROC2# Gregory is rocked!#CUT2# It looks like Quincy Gregory has been cut. Sandoval postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Gregory in real trouble here! The ref calls for Gregory to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

#R1# Sandoval shoots for a double leg takedown but Monk sprawls well. He's pushed Sandoval's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Monk thuds his right hand into Sandoval's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.#CUT2# It looks like Edwin Sandoval has been cut. Sandoval misses with a takedown attempt and Monk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Sandoval shoots and misses and Monk counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edwin Sandoval. That's going to take a lot out of him. and Monk counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Sandoval! He's just covering up as Monk starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
