Calvus darts in looking for a takedown but Yoshida gets double underhooks and turns Calvus into the cage.
Calvus takes a shot to the body in his stride.

and Yoshida counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Yoshida lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

It looks like Erik Calvus has been cut.
Calvus shoots for a double leg takedown but Yoshida sprawls well. He's pushed Calvus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Erik Calvus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Calvus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Yoshida avoids it really well and circles away.
Mitsuo Yoshida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yoshida has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Yoshida wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Yoshida pounces like a tiger and cracks Calvus with a vicious hook! Calvus is down but not out! Yoshida follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
