Bohm Bawerk tries to land a sweep but no joy. Aguirre wants to get up but he can't break Bohm Bawerk's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. #SUB2# Bohm Bawerk working for a triangle but Aguirre defends it easily.

#R1# Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling eachother endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. A jab from Embolo does it's job there. Embolo throws out a powerful jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aguirre steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Embolo. Embolo lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.#T1# Aguirre misses with a takedown attempt and Embolo counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Aguirre thinking. Embolo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Aguirre gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Embolo gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yoel Embolo! In his post fight interview, Yoel Embolo started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.

#R1# Weiss bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Aguirre's head backwards. Aguirre drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Weiss scores with a jab to the head.
Aguirre with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Weiss to score with a decent uppercut. Weiss throws an off balance right hand
#TD# and Aguirre counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Aguirre wants to control from the top but Weiss keeps moving. #SUB# Aguirre thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Aguirre wants to control from the top but Weiss keeps moving. Aguirre is really struggling to control Weiss but he's trying to hold on to the position. Weiss has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Play House. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T1# Aguirre stands and throws Weiss's legs to the side, diving into side control. #SUB# Aguirre working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Aguirre trying to control the position but Weiss is working away. #SUB# Aguirre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Aguirre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! #T2# Aguirre trying to control the position but Weiss is working away. #SUB# Aguirre has hold of Weiss's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Weiss tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Aguirre cranks the arm and Weiss screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Weiss, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
