#R1# Mast closes the distance but Ortiz moves to the side and Ortiz counters with a series of strikes. Mast will be more careful next time no doubt. David Mast seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ortiz takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Mast throws a front kick aimed at Ortiz's knee but Ortiz avoids it well. Mast fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Mast misses with a few strikes there.
It looked like Ortiz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mast tries to clinch up. Mast tries a low kick but Ortiz avoids it. As Mast looks to move away, Ortiz throws a big counter combo but Mast just gets out of the way. Mast looks for a takedown but Ortiz sprawls well. Ortiz is looking for a counter combo. Mast has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.#T1# Mast tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ortiz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Ortiz throws a big counter combination but Mast scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Mast takes one on the button. Mast fails with the takedown. Hector Ortiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Mast. Mast falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ortiz counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Mast looks winded! Mast misses with a combination
enabling Ortiz to counter with a crisp jab. Ortiz swats away the attempt to clinch by Mast.#T2# Mast closes the distance but Ortiz moves to the side and Ortiz counters with a two punch combo. Ortiz works the jab nicely. Ortiz misses with a few strikes there.
Mast fails with a takedown attempt. This has been an exciting period of action! Mast misses with a takedown and Ortiz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.#T3# Mast shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ortiz as he jumps to the side. #CL2# Mast has managed to clinch.

Ortiz throws a right hand that Mast ducks under and follows up with a left that Mast also avoids with ease.#TD2# Mast dives in and scores a takedown into Ortiz's guard.#ES# Ortiz pushes Mast off and scrambles back to his feet.
Mast shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ortiz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.#T4# The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mast showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ortiz.
Mast tries to clinch but Ortiz moves away and Ortiz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Nice defenses there by Ortiz. Mast tries to clinch but fails miserably and Ortiz counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Mast on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Ortiz throws a shot to the body.
Ortiz fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hector Ortiz dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! #R2# Mast takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Mast fails with a takedown attempt. Ortiz is looking to wear down Mast with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Ortiz lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mast backs up against the cage.

Mast doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ortiz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. #ROC# Mast is rocked! Ortiz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mast can do to turn this around? Mast shoots and misses and Ortiz counters with a deadly accurate combination that rocks Mast badly! He tries to strike back but Ortiz puts an end to that with another precision combo that knocks Mast out cold! Oh man, Mast will never hear the end of this one!

#R1# Rhammer works over Mast's head and body with a nice combination. Mast takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.#TD# Mast closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rhammer quickly recovers to half guard. Mast is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rhammer! Mast throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Mast wants to stand but Rhammer is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
#SUB# Mast looking for a guillotine from mount but Rhammer is having none of it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mast takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Mast seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rhammer for as long as he can get away with. Rhammer manages to control the position for a moment.#T1# Rhammer tries to hold on but Mast pushes him away. Rhammer is trying desperately to improve position. Mast takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Rhammer tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Mast avoids the attempt from Rhammer to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#T2# The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rhammer is squirming around, avoiding Mast's attempts to control the action. Mast is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. Rhammer has given up his back here.
Mast has the hooks in. Rhammer is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Rhammer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mast. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mast thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Mast trying to control.#SUB# Mast working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Rhammer is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Mast has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Rhammer taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Mast! David Mast decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.

Clements drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.#TD2# Mast looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Clements! Mast wants to stand but Clements has his arm trapped. #SUB2# Clements is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mast's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Mast! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Clements has tapped! This one is allllll over!
