The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Mehadah tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Akira Wakabayashi defends well and Mehadah ends up having to push Akira Wakabayashi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. #R1# Mehadah shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cleveland pinned against the cage. Cleveland gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. #TD2# Cleveland closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. #ES# Mehadah has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Cleveland is on him like a limpet, forcing Mehadah back against the cage.#TD# Mehadah gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cleveland holds on and takes a little breather. Cleveland working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mehadah. Mehadah throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cleveland works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
