#R1# Griffin stuffs the takedown.#CL# Alvarez gets in close and instigates a clinch. #TD# Alvarez turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Alvarez wants to control but Griffin is keeping him busy. Griffin trying to remain calm as Alvarez controls from the top position. Alvarez trying to control the position but Griffin is working away. Alvarez tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvarez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
#T1##SUB# Alvarez is trying to get an arm triangle but Griffin is defending well. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Griffin can do anything to dispel that myth. Alvarez wants to stand but Griffin has his arm trapped. Alvarez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffin keeps working. Alvarez throws a strike aimed at the side of Griffin's head but Griffin avoids it well. Alvarez tries to score with some ground and pound. Griffin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Alvarez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Alvarez is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. #T2# The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.#SUB# Alvarez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Griffin has escaped the position, nice work there. Alvarez controlling the position from side mount. Alvarez in side control lands a decent elbow. Alvarez wants to control but Griffin is keeping him busy. #T3# Griffin defending against the ground and pound. Alvarez advances nicely into full mount. Alvarez throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Griffin really wants to buck Alvarez off and get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alvarez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Griffin is looking to escape. We've been informed that Griffin has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.#T4##SUB# Alvarez looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Alvarez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Alvarez sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cruz Alvarez dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. #R2# Griffin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Griffin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Alvarez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Griffin connects with a right hand. Alvarez shakes it off. Alvarez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Alvarez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A big left from Griffin misses. #CL# Alvarez has taken the fight to the clinch.

Griffin wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Alvarez wants to take the fight to the mat but Griffin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.#T1# Alvarez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Griffin just stands there and leans against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cruz Alvarez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alvarez effectively controlling the action here. Alvarez has Griffin pressed against the cage, preventing Griffin from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Alvarez leaning his opponent against the cage. Alvarez is trying to pull guard but Griffin turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.#BC# Alvarez breaks the clinch.
#T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Griffin throws a body shot but no joy. Alvarez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Griffin can do to turn this around? Griffin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Alvarez's hands. Griffin avoids the body shot from Alvarez.
Griffin tries to counter with a clinch but Alvarez shakes him off and moves away. Griffin looks to land a right hand but Alvarez moved out of range. Griffin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Alvarez counter with a right hand. Griffin scores with a nice strike. Cruz Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Griffin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Alvarez. Alvarez circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Alvarez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Alvarez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. #ROC2# Alvarez is rocked! Cruz Alvarez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Alvarez backs away from a small jab... but Griffin lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Alvarez crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Griffin with a spectacular finish!
