The referee is keeping an eye on Shaqiri - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Shaqiri shoots in looking for a takedown. Mendez tries to sprawl out of it but Shaqiri keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mendez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Mendez is looking to clinch but Shaqiri is avoiding it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chavez Mendez will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mendez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Shaqiri changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Shaqiri lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chavez Mendez. I think Mendez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Rodriguez keeps control of Mendez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. #TD2# Rodriguez jumps guard and drags Mendez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Mendez pushes down on Rodriguez's leg and manages to get into half guard. Mendez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rodriguez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are battling for position here. Rodriguez manages to regain full guard. Nice work. #ES2# Rodriguez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mendez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Not this time though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
