The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Petersen is defended easily by Barbosa. Barbosa unleashes a big counter combination but Petersen bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.#CL2# Petersen tries to keep at a distance but Barbosa has taken the fight into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petersen prevents Barbosa from breaking the clinch. Barbosa looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.#TD# Petersen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Barbosa uses from the top position. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jospeh Petersen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barbosa throws a right and a left that both miss. Andre Barbosa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barbosa stuffs the takedown attempt from Petersen. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Petersen looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Petersen slips a nice elbow through Barbosa's hands, connecting with Barbosa's forehead. He has the arm isolated but Petersen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Petersen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Metdida on the ground. Metdida tries to move to mount but Petersen blocks the move with his legs. Petersen is looking to regain half guard here but Metdida keeps moving and retains side control. #R1# Petersen throws a half hearted mid kick. Petersen fails in his attempt to clinch. Yamate throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.#CL2# Yamate has closed the distance and engaged Petersen in a clinch.
Yamate gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Petersen.
Yamate lands a damaging elbow. #TD# Petersen jumps guard and drags Yamate to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Petersen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. #REVR# Petersen trying to mount his opponent but Yamate defends it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yamate is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
