Johnson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A nice inside leg kick there by Johnson. That's going to slow Shoemaker down.

Johnson and Shoemaker are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Johnson throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Shoemaker into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Johnson knows it - he's on the ropes flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). CJ Johnson!

Johnson stalks Shoemaker and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Shoemaker's face. Shoemaker staggers backwards, shaken.
A head kick misses from Shoemaker.
Despite the aggression on Johnson's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Shoemaker on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Johnson. Johnson obviously looking to wear him down.
Shoemaker misses with a double jab
and Johnson counters with a good, hard body kick but Shoemaker shrugs it off.
Johnson looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Shoemaker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Shoemaker throws an overhand right that lands on Johnson's shoulder, as Johnson tries to avoid the shot.
Some wild striking there from Shoemaker.

Shoemaker has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Shoemaker there as he acknowledges the shot.

Shoemaker throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease.

Shoemaker throws an off balance right hand
and Shoemaker takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Johnson throws a head kick that Shoemaker semi-blocks.
Johnson lands a jab to the nose.
Shoemaker feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Johnsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Shoemaker throws a sloppy body shot
and Johnson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Shoemaker is breathing heavily.

Johnson lands a jab to the nose.
Johnson lands with a kick to the ribs.
Johnson is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shoemaker had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Shoemaker gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Johnson feints and then cracks Shoemaker's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Shoemaker down.
Johnson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Shoemaker if he has to take too many more of those.
Johnson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Johnson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shoemaker.
Johnson connects with an inside leg kick.
Shoemaker misses with a lunging right hand
and Johnson counters with a nice body kick.
Johnson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A jab from Johnson finds it's way through Shoemaker's defenses.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

CJ Johnson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Johnson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Shoemaker might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Shoemaker sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Johnson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shoemaker looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Shoemaker takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Johnson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Johnson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shoemaker takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Shoemaker takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Shoemaker drops his hands momentarily and Johnson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. #ROC2#
Shoemaker is rocked!
Johnson cracks Shoemaker with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!

Johnson lands a slapping body shot.
Johnson lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
The fight stays on the outside here - Schaafs looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Schaafs has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Johnson.
Schaafs looks winded!
Schaafs takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Johnson connects with a right hand. Schaafs shakes it off.
Johnson lands a front kick.
Schaafs throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Schaafs walks into a jab.
Johnson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Schaafs takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing. #ROC#

Schaafs has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Johnson connects with a quick right hand that sends Schaafs tumbling backwards onto the canvas! As his head bounces into the ropes, it doesn't look good for him beating the count! 3,4,5,6,7 and he's up! No, he's back down again! This one is all over - the referee has called off the fight!

Alvarado fails with an attempt to clinch.
A punch lands to the side of Alvarado 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Johnson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Alvarado.

and Johnson counters with a solid body kick.

enabling Johnson to counter with a crisp jab.
Alvarado throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Johnson appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alvarado rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alvarado is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Alvarado seems frustrated at his inability to get double underhooks.
Alvarado is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Johnson creates a bit of space for himself and unleashed what can only be described as a tiger uppercut, straight out of Street Fighter! Alvarado crashes to the mat! Can he make it back to his feet in time? 3,4,5,6... it doesn't look like he's going to make it! Alvarado face plants back to the mat and the referee calls off the fight! Johnson takes it with a brutal technical knockout!
