In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Soriano working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coco keeping full guard, as Soriano tries to pass. #T1# Soriano postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Soriano is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Soriano looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Soriano keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Coco's head. Soriano slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Coco will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.#REF3# The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Coco looks to land a combination but Soriano avoids it well. Coco dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Coco changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Coco scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Soriano takes a jab right on the kisser.
Soriano tries for a takedown but Coco circles away easily and Coco counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Fanta Coco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Coco cracks Soriano with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Soriano ducks right into an uppercut from Coco. Soriano walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Coco has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Soriano can do anything to dispel that myth. Soriano is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Coco scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Coco uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Soriano has time to react. Soriano shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Soriano takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Soriano looks OK. Roy waves Soriano back to his feet!#CUT# It looks like Angel Soriano has been cut. Roy Roy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roy closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Soriano out cold! #R1# Nice takedown defense from Soriano. No joy for Griffin on that attempt. Both fighters circling a little - Griffin finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Griffin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soriano tries to avoid it but Griffin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soriano to the ground. Soriano escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ryan Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#TD# Griffin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Soriano's guard. Griffin with a flurry of punches that miss. #SUB# Griffin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. It looks like Soriano might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... The fight stays on the outside here - Buckner looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Soriano with the counter takedown but Buckner avoids it easily.
