Schultz shoots in for a takedown but Vikkus shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Schultz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vikkus's waist but Vikkus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Schultz off to one side. #CL2# Vikkus darts in and clinches Schultz up against the cage.#TD2# Vikkus jumps guard and drags Schultz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Vikkus preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Vikkus is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.#SUB# Schultz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Vikkus is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vernon looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Vernon fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Schultz has his hands clasped together around Vernon's back. He's all about the action. Schultz struggling a bit here. Sanchez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Schultz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schultz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Schultz controls the position for a moment. Schultz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Sanchez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanchez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schultz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
