#TD# Valenzuela shoots in and bounces Marquez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Valenzuela will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Valenzuela is looking to work some ground and pound but Marquez has wrist control. Valenzuela throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Marquez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. #SUB# Valenzuela drops back looking for a leg! Marquez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Marquez manages to kick Valenzuela off! Valenzuela jumps back into Marquez's guard. Valenzuela landing some decent shots from guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marquez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Valenzuela. Valenzuela trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Marquez wants to stand and escape but Valenzuela is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Valenzuela won't allow Marquez to get back to his feet. Valenzuela with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Valenzuela scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Valenzuela really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Marquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SU# Valenzuela decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Marquez, up you get! Marquez throws a sloppy head kick and Valenzuela moves out of range easily. Marquez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Marquez throws a head kick that misses #CL# and Valenzuela counters by clinching up. Valenzuela effectively controlling the action here. Marquez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.#BC# Valenzuela's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Marquez throws a head kick but Valenzuela moves out of range.

It looked like Valenzuela was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Marquez throws a sloppy head kick and Valenzuela moves out of range easily. #TD# Valenzuela feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Valenzuela cracks Marquez with a solid left hand. Marquez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Marquez looks winded! Valenzuela is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Valenzuela is working Marquez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Valenzuela postures up and lands a big shot to Marquez's brow. Marquez wants to stand but Valenzuela is controlling the position. Valenzuela lands a couple of decent looking shots. Marquez wants to stand up but Valenzuela is controlling him. Valenzuela lands a couple of elbows.#T3##SU# Valenzuela decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Marquez, up you get! Marquez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A head kick by Marquez misses and Valenzuela makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Marquez really felt that one!#TD# Valenzuela shoots in and gets a takedown into Marquez's guard. Valenzuela landing with the ground and pound. Valenzuela controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Valenzuela stands up over Marquez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Valenzuela cracks Marquez with a solid left hand. Valenzuela scoring with punches to the head and body. #SU# Valenzuela gets to his feet. Marquez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Marquez throws a head kick that misses. #TD# Valenzuela decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.#SU# Valenzuela stands up from half guard. A punch combination from Valenzuela misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Marquez throws a lazy head kick and Valenzuela counters with a left and a right that stings Marquez. #T4# A head kick by Marquez misses #CL# and Valenzuela counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Valenzuela. #BC# Valenzuela breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Valenzuela misses with a two punch combination.
#TD# Valenzuela drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Valenzuela landing strikes. Marquez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Valenzuela connects with a decent elbow. Valenzuela looks up at the clock and then as Marquez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Valenzuela smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
#SUB# Valenzuela has hold of Marquez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Marquez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Valenzuela cranks the arm and Marquez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Marquez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Potter is looking to counter punch. Potter blocks a head kick by Marquez.
Marquez throws a head kick that misses. As Marquez tries to get set, Potter tries to push him back and clinch up but Marquez manages to avoid the attempt. Marquez throws a lazy head kick #CL# and Potter counters into the clinch. Nicely done. #TD# Potter turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Potter manages to end up in side control. The strikes coming from Potter are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Potter taking a breather here. Potter continues to stall. Potter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Marquez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Potter asserts his dominance and retains side control. Marquez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Potter connects with a decent elbow. Marquez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Potter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Potter works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Potter controlling the position from side mount. #T1# Marquez wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Potter working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
#SUB# Potter has hold of Marquez's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Marquez seems comfortable defending it but Potter has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Marquez is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Marquez is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Potter couldn't care less - he's delighted!
