#R1# Nice shot by Van De Riet. Velasquez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Van De Riet counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Van De Riet connects with a looping right hand.
Van De Riet throws a body shot but no joy. Velasquez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Velasquez shoots in for a takedown but Van De Riet shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.#TD2# Velasquez is looking for a takedown here. #R1# Velasquez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Poutanes sprawls well. Poutanes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Velasquez gets slowly back to his feet. Poutanes stuffs the takedown. Poutanes works Velasquez's body with a nice hook. Poutanes looks to land a combination. Velasquez sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Velasquez shoots in but Poutanes avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alistair Velasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Velasquez with a lazy takedown attempt and Poutanes counters with a straight right hand. Poutanes stuffs the takedown attempt from Velasquez. Velasquez gets slowly back to his feet. Poutanes fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Poutanes getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Velasquez shoots in for a takedown but Poutanes shows good takedown defense. Velasquez shoots in looking for a takedown. Poutanes tries to sprawl out of it but Velasquez keeps driving through. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. #R1# We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Clemons tests Velasquez's chin there with a solid looking shot. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Clemons is defended easily by Velasquez. Clemons darts in looking for a takedown but Velasquez gets double underhooks and turns Clemons into the cage. Velasquez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Clemons shoots in for a double leg but Velasquez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
