Zylo throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Beckett blocks it with crossed arms. A short uppercut from Beckett. Zylo with a knee to the head.
Zylo blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zylo is keen to just control but Beckett is a slippery customer. Zylo working Beckett over with strikes. #T4# Zylo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Beckett does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Zylo works his way into side control. Zylo works to advance to full mount. Beckett defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Beckett is in a horrible position here. Zylo smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Beckett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zylo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Zylo putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Zylo lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Zylo avoids the attempt from Beckett to control. A nice elbow there by Zylo. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ares Zylo dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. #R2##TD# Zylo gets a double leg takedown into Beckett's guard. Zylo throwing strikes from guard but Beckett blocks nicely. Zylo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Zylo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Beckett keeping full guard, as Zylo tries to pass. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zylo distracts Beckett with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Beckett is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Zylo is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Beckett! Zylo lands a heavy elbow. Zylo lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Beckett hang on? We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Beckett can do anything to dispel that myth. Zylo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. #T2# Beckett is in a horrible position here. Zylo smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Zylo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Zylo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Beckett can do to turn this around? Zylo unloading with bombs! Zylo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Zylo lands a couple of good shots and Beckett has given up his back, trying to escape the position!#ROC# Beckett is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Zylo lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Beckett hold on?!

Beckett looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. McGucken tries a knee to the head but Beckett blocks it.

Beckett lands a shot to the body. Beckett presses McGucken against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Beckett dips a shoulder and cracks McGucken with a mighty uppercut! McGucken falls back against the ropes and Beckett unloads with a barrage of strikes! McGucken is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the ropes! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Beckett screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bryan Beckett! A relieved looking Bryan Beckett thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
