#R1##TD2# Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.#SUB# Fulton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily. Smith controls the pace of the fight for a moment.#SUB# Fulton throws his legs up looking for a submission but Smith uses it to pass to side control.
Fulton is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Fulton down.
Smith is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Fulton's shoulder. That is not cool. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fulton is trying to get back to half guard. Fulton is being controlled here. Fulton really is a fat lump.#SUB2# Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fulton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. #T1# Fulton striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Smith passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Fulton! Smith landing strikes from the mount. Fulton wants to control but Smith is having none of it. Smith controlling the pace for now. Smith lands with some strikes. Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Fulton keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Fulton is just holding on here. Smith manages to take his back.
#T2# Smith controls the action. Smith connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Fulton to escape the position.
Fulton is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. #SUB2# Smith has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Fulton is in real trouble here. Smith gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Fulton is tapping out! Smith wins by rear naked choke!

Smith content to stall in guard here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Patterson trying to control the position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Smith controlling from the top position. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.#TD2# Smith scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Smith controlling the action here. Smith tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Patterson. Patterson is doing well to control the position and prevent Smith from advancing to side control.#T2# Patterson is trying to maintain the position but Smith is very close to passing his half guard. Patterson is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Smith tries to pass to full mount but Patterson defends it. #SUB2# Smith is looking for a kimura here.
#T3# Still in half guard, Smith seems content to control. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Smith lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Smith is looking to take a break and control but Patterson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Smith stalling. #SUB2# Smith is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
#T4# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Patterson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smith. Patterson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Smith controlling the action here. The fighters are battling for position here. Patterson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Smith stands and salutes the crowd.
