He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.#CL# Gavin closes the distance and clinches. Gavin scores with a nice hook to the head.#TD2# Marchand works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. #SU2# Marchand stands up and waves to Gavin to follow him. Marchand blocks a head kick by Gavin.

Marchand is working for takedown but Gavin is calmly controlling the position for now. Our sources have told us that Marchand has been working on his elbows in the gym. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. #TD# Marchand has hold of one of Gavin's legs. Gavin is fighting the takedown attempt but Marchand gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Marchand trying to control the position from guard on top but Gavin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Marchand looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marchand trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marchand accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Gavin pulls Marchand in close to prevent any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gavin keeping full guard, as Marchand tries to pass. Marchand throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gavin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. #T1# Gavin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. Marchand has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. It looks like Marchand is going to stand back up.

After the fight, Rod Marchand was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.

#R1# Gavin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Gavin slaps away a takedown attempt from Oogway, before circling back to the center of the mat. Oogway throws a sloppy head kick and Gavin counters with a thumping low kick. Oogway scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Gavin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Oogway circles away. Oogway changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Oogway slips a jab and a cross from Gavin.

That was a close round but I would say that Kristoph Gavin will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. Oogway tries to clinch but Gavin moves away and Gavin counters with a left and a right that stings Oogway. Gavin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Oogway circles away. Oogway has his takedown stuffed and Gavin counters with a big head kick but Oogway shrugs it off. Oogway shoots for a double leg takedown but Gavin sprawls well. He's pushed Oogway's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Oogway throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gavin's waist but Gavin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Oogway off to one side. Kristoph Gavin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Master Oogway. Gavin lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Oogway tries to clinch up. Gavin appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Oogway ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gavin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Gavin dives in and grabs Oogway's left leg, looking for a takedown. Oogway pushes down on Gavin's head and hops out. Kristoph Gavin is winning the standup battle so far. Oogway shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gavin but Gavin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kristoph Gavin. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gavin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
