#R1##TD# Nickelson scores with a takedown into Claremont's guard. Claremont wants to get back to his feet but Nickelson passes into half guard.
#REVB# Claremont tries to kick Nickelson off but Nickelson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Nickelson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Claremont with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Nickelson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nickelson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Claremont for as long as he can get away with. Claremont is trying to stand up here but Nickelson is controlling him well. #T1# Nickelson performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Claremont is trying to stand back up but Nickelson is controlling him
Nickelson works his foot free and advances to mount. Claremont is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
#SUB# Nickelson is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Claremont is forced to tap! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Nickelson!
