Albaskhanov drops down looking for a counter takedown but McGuire sprawls and moves away. McGuire stuffs the takedown. Albaskhanov moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromMcGuire. Albaskhanov shoots for a double leg takedown but McGuire sprawls well. He's pushed Albaskhanov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. #TD# Albaskhanov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. McGuire wants to sweep here but Albaskhanov controlling him for the moment. Albaskhanov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Albaskhanov trying to control the position from guard on top but McGuire is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGuire can do anything to dispel that myth. Albaskhanov with a nice head shot there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Albaskhanov connects with a nice short shot to McGuire's temple. Albaskhanov winds up and cracks McGuire with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Albaskhanov slows the pace down in half guard. Albaskhanov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McGuire has hold of Albaskhanov's hands but Albaskhanov slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McGuire wants to get back to full guard. Albaskhanov wants to take a breather but McGuire is having none of it. Albaskhanov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Nice strikes from Albaskhanov there. Albaskhanov lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked McGuire! More strikes land and this one is all over! Albaskhanov jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bekbulat Albaskhanov! Bekbulat Albaskhanov tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
