Gal darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Gal throws a shot from downtown. Tarverdyan moves away and avoids it. No joy there for Gal, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gal throws out a loose jab but Tarverdyan uses good head movement to avoid it. #R1# We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Haynes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tarverdyan is fending him off so far but Haynes persists. Nope, Tarverdyan circles away and we're back to standing. Tarverdyan throws out a counter right but Haynes avoids it with no problem.#TD# Excellent takedown into side control there by Haynes. Haynes controlling the position from side mount. Tarverdyan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Haynes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#SU# Haynes stands up and beckons Tarverdyan to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #R1##TD2# LaFera closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Tarverdyan tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Tarverdyan wants to try and get back to his feet. LaFera takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. It looks like LaFera might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Tarverdyan is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
