and Velderman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Harrison lands a jab to the nose. Harrison looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Harrison has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Harrison tries to land a body kick and Velderman counters with a nice leg kick. Velderman connects with a single shot there.#CUT# It looks like Sledge Harrison has been cut. A head kick by Harrison misses and Velderman counters with a straight right that drops Harrison to the canvas! Will Harrison beat the count? He's still wobbly and as the count reaches 7, he's still struggling to make it. 8...9...10. He's out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Ron Velderman! Ron Velderman decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. The defeated Sledge Harrison had this to say: 'I'm just gonna get right back up! #R1# Wade lands a jab. Wade throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Harrison on the side of the head. Wade throws a jab when Harrison was well out of range.#CL# Wade has taken the fight to the clinch.

Harrison tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. I was talking to Wade's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Harrison putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Wade in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Wade managing to block the knees to the body from Harrison.

Tamatso fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Harrison! But no joy. Harrison takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Tamatso looks to land a right hand but Harrison moved out of range. Harrison is looking to clinch. Tamatso throwing a counter right hand but Harrison manages to avoid it. Harrison throws a lazy head kick and Tamatso counters with a lovely shot to the body. Tamatso clobbers Harrison with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. #CUT# It looks like Sledge Harrison has been cut. Tsuyoshi Tamatso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tamatso misses with a few strikes there.

Dupuis throws a body punch but Harrison moves out of range. We've been told by Dupuis's head coaches at Jitsu Jim that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Harrison shoots in but Dupuis avoids the takedown attempt easily. Harrison takes one on the chin but seems OK.
#CUT# It looks like Sledge Harrison has been cut. Harrison closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Dupuis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Harrison. Harrison closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dupuis circles away. David Dupuis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sledge Harrison. Harrison shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dupuis sprawls well. Dupuis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Harrison gets slowly back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dupuis throws a head kick but Harrison moves out of range.

Harrison wants to control for a moment but Jimenez uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #R1# We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.#TD2# Harrison changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Razor looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Shank thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!#CUT# It looks like Sledge Harrison has been cut. We've been told by Shank's head coaches at Jitsu Jim that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Shank throws a body shot but no joy. Shank is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Shank shuts the power down on Harrison. Lights out, game over! Shank is your winner.

#R1# Kaki looks to land a right hand but Harrison moved out of range. Kaki throws a series of punches but Harrison moves out of range. Harrison misses with a low kick.
Kaki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Harrison fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Kaki connects with a crisp jab. Kaki displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Harrison. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#KD2# Kaki lands a left and a right that send Harrison crashing to the mat, dazed. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kaki Throws a clean left jab. Kaki Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Harrison's chin! Harrison crumbles to the ground and Kaki follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Gates could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Gates swats away the attempt to clinch by Harrison. As Harrison tries to get set, Gates tries to push him back and clinch up but Harrison manages to avoid the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harrison doesn't manage to clinch there - Gates circles away.

Gates bucks up and tries to throw Harrison off but instead Harrison has got his back! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Harrison has the hooks in. Gates is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Harrison has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Gates's body.
