#R1# Cruz is looking to clinch. Pearson goes for a double leg but Cruz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cruz continues to drive forward. Cruz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pearson sprawls well. Pearson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet. Pearson tries to clinch up.#TD2# Cruz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Pearson wants to control but Cruz is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB2# Cruz is working for a submission of some sort.
Pearson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cruz on the ground.#T1# Pearson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cruz moves nicely into side control. #SUB2# Cruz tries for a kimura but Pearson is defending well. Pearson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!#T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.#SUB2# Cruz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. #SU2# Cruz stands up. #TD2# Cruz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Cruz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pearson keeps working. Cruz controlling the action here.#T3# Cruz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pearson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Cruz looks to land a strike but Pearson avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Cruz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Cruz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pearson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Cruz working some strikes from top position. Pearson looking for a sweep. Not yet Pearson, not yet. Cruz trying to control but Pearson is working from the bottom. #T4# The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cruz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Cruz works over Pearson with some ground and pound from guard. Cruz trying to control the position from guard on top but Pearson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cruz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pearson managing to control the position. #REF3# The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cruz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cruz wants it to stay on the feet. Pearson tries for a takedown but Cruz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Feliz Cruz dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. #R2# Cruz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Pearson moves out of range of the leg kick from Cruz. It looked like Pearson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Pearson doesn't manage to clinch there - Cruz circles away.
#TD2# Pearson tries to sprawl but Cruz drives through with a takedown into half guard. Cruz tries to pass to full mount but Pearson defends it. #SUB2# Cruz maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Pearson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Cruz has cracked it and Pearson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Cruz!
