The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martel has a takedown stuffed. Martel darts in and clinches Skrikam up against the cage. Martel tries to land a knee to the head but Skrikam blocks with his arms.
Martel looking to throw knees to the head but Skrikam is blocking nicely.
Skrikam is trying to drag Martel to the mat but Martel just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Skrikam changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Martel fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Martel has a takedown stuffed. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Skrikam feints and as Martel raises his hands in defense, Skrikam changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Skrikam trying to control but Martel is working from the bottom. Martel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martel is pulling down on Skrikam's head. It's preventing any offense from Skrikam, at least for the moment. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Skrikam's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Skrikam keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Martel's head. Martel wants to sweep here but Skrikam controlling him for the moment. Skrikam trying to control the position from guard on top but Martel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Martel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Skrikam gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Skrikam's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Martel keeping moving, preventing Skrikam from controlling successfully. Skrikam has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Martel looking for a sweep. Not yet Martel, not yet. Martel keeping moving, preventing Skrikam from controlling successfully. Skrikam would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Skrikam has his takedown stuffed and Martel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kelcey Martel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zeke Skrikam. Martel clinches up with Skrikam and pushes him back against the cage. Martel is trying to pull guard but Skrikam turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Skrikam has Martel pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Martel manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Skrikam jumps guard but Martel stands there with Skrikam around his waist. Skrikam gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Martel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martel rushes Skrikam and presses him up against the cage. Skrikam breaks from the clinch.
Skrikam dives in and grabs Martel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Martel pushes down on Skrikam's head and hops out. Martel moves into the clinch. Martel breaks the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Martel. No joy for Skrikam on that attempt. Zeke Skrikam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Skrikam looks winded! Martel moves into the clinch successfully.
Skrikam tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Martel just stands there and leans against the cage. Martel lands with a right to the head. Martel decides to pull guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Skrikam throws a big right hand that misses. Skrikam stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Martel swivels though and keeps the full guard. Skrikam being controlled here momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Skrikam wants to control from the top but Martel keeps moving. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Martel trying to keep a closed guard but Skrikam is proving a slippery customer.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Skrikam fails miserably with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kelcey Martel dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Horrible takedown attempt by Martel or perhaps it was just good defense by Skrikam, which made it look bad. Martel fails in his attempt to clinch. Martel tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Skrikam defends well and Martel ends up having to push Skrikam into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Skrikam scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Martel is refusing to be controlled, as Skrikam sits in half guard. Martel pushes Skrikam off looking to stand but Skrikam dives back in and keeps control.
Martel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Skrikam is looking to take a break and control but Martel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Skrikam uses his free foot to push down on Martel's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Martel. Skrikam working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martel wants to control but Skrikam is having none of it. Martel is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Skrikam tries to control but Martel wriggling away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Skrikam is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Martel is surviving well by controlling Skrikam's body position as best he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Martel tries to reverse the position but Skrikam maintains control. Skrikam looking to control and managing it successfully. Skrikam scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Martel?
Martel bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Skrikam tries to land a sweep but no joy. Martel wants to control from the top but Skrikam keeps moving. Skrikam is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Skrikam can do anything to dispel that myth. Martel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Skrikam tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Martel defends well and Skrikam ends up having to push Martel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Martel clinches with his opponent.

Martel is looking to control Skrikam's arms but Skrikam gets an underhook and turns him. Now Martel has his back to the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Zeke Skrikam will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Martel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Skrikam paws at him with a jab and circles away. Skrikam displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Martel. Martel lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Skrikam tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Skrikam looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Martel! Martel throws Skrikam to one side and escapes! This has been an exciting period of action! Skrikam pushes Martel up against the cage in a clinch. Martel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Skrikam decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Martel makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Martel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Skrikam can do to turn this around? Both fighters are breathing heavily. Skrikam moves out of range of the body kick from Martel.

He shot from a bit too far out. Skrikam tries to score a power double leg takedown but Martel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Skrikam somewhat. Skrikam closes this distance looking for a takedown but Martel circles away. Kelcey Martel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zeke Skrikam. Martel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Skrikam but Skrikam pushes him off and we're back to square one. Skrikam with a poor takedown and Martel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Skrikam tries to keep at a distance but Martel has taken the fight into the clinch. Martel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Skrikam is pressed up against the cage. Martel has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Skrikam down to the mat. Skrikam avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Martel forces Skrikam back against the cage and clinches. Skrikam is trying to pull guard but Martel has him pressed against the cage. Martel lands a right hand that snaps the head of Skrikam backwards. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Skrikam on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Martel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Martel moves in looking to clinch but Skrikam pushes him off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skrikam shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Martel defends it nicely. Martel darts in and clinches Skrikam up against the cage. Skrikam is defending well against a takedown attempt. Skrikam has clasped his hands together around Martel's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Martel throws Skrikam to one side and escapes! The fight stays on the outside here - Martel looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Martel wants to clinch up but Skrikam keeps it at a distance. Skrikam with the counter takedown but Martel avoids it easily. Martel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martel closes the distance and clinches. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A short uppercut from Martel. Skrikam is trying to drag Martel to the mat but Martel just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. And that's the end of the fight! Kelcey Martel showed his dominance in that final round. Well Martel has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

#R1##TD2# Martel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Cardenas tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Martel trying to control but Cardenas is having none of it. Martel sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Cardenas looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. What can Cardenas do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Martel is looking to control Cardenas but Cardenas is wriggling around and keeping busy. #T1# Martel biding his time, controlling Cardenas. Cardenas is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Cardenas is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Martel.
#SUB2# Martel is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Cardenas knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Cardenas for a finish. Come on Cardenas, up you get! Cardenas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Martel pinned against the cage. Martel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Martel tries to clinch there but Cardenas circles away.
Cardenas looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.#TD2# Excellent takedown into side control there by Martel. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! And that's the end of the fight! Kelcey Martel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Martel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
