Takayama is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Takayama pulls Higgins in to control the position. Takayama wants to sweep here but Higgins controlling him for the moment. Takayama can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Higgins controls the pace. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Takayama has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Higgins tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Mazing presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Higgins really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Higgins regains half guard. Higgins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Higgins slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Higgins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Higgins is looking to sweep but instead, Mazing has passed into half guard.
