Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Hoster Tully (ranked 6770 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Long (ranked 7438 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Hoster Tully! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Peter Long! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Tully has a takedown stuffed. Long tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tully swats him away and circles back towards the center. Long tries to close the distance and clinch but Tully swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Long shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tully but Tully pushes him off and we're back to square one. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Long is defended easily by Tully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tully keeps the fight on the outside. Long tries to clinch up but Tully circles away and keeps his distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck for Long with that takedown attempt. Hoster Tully has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Long. Long moves in looking to clinch but Tully pushes him off. Long fails with the takedown. Long tries to clinch up but Tully circles away and keeps his distance. Long fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Tully shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Tully tries to score a power double leg takedown but Long sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tully somewhat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Long tries to clinch up. Tully decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Tully (2) vs (0) Long Tully controlling the pace. Long wants to get back to full guard. Tully controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Long won't allow Tully to pass to mount. Tully is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tully is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Long has managed to free his arm - good work. Tully takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tully wants to free his trapped foot but Long is holding on for dear life with his legs. Tully not doing much here.
Tully passes to side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Tully (5) vs (0) Long Long tries to buck Tully off but Tully is having none of it.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Tully controlling the position from side mount. Long tries to bench press Tully off him but Tully keeps the position. Tully is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Tully's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Tully advances to mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Tully (7) vs (0) Long Tully content just to control the position here. Tully has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Tully prevents Long from getting the reversal.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Tully controlling the pace for now. Long keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Tully looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Tully controlling from mount. Further stalling from Tully. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Tully is stinking the place up with his stalling. Tully looking for a guillotine from mount but Long is having none of it. Tully looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's nine minutes gone in the round.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Tully goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Long is on top in guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Tully (7) vs (2) Long Tully looking for a sweep. Not yet Tully, not yet. Tully has control of Long's left arm, preventing Long from doing any damage. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tully is on top in guard.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Long tries to roll over but Tully keeps him under control. Tully has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Tully (12) vs (2) Long Tully looking to control and managing it successfully. This is a sustained period of stalling by Tully.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Tully jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Long manages to avoid the submission attempt. Long tries to bench press Tully off him but Tully keeps the position. You can see the frustration on Long's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Long tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Tully controls the position. Tully tries for a kimura but Long is defending well. Tully works to advance to full mount. Long defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Score +2 for reaching mount: Tully (14) vs (2) Long Tully tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Long is wriggling around trying to escape.
Tully controlling from the full mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Long wants to hold on but Tully pushes him away. Tully controlling from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Tully takes the fight on points by 14 to 2. |
