Ibragimov sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.#CUT2# It looks like Agaxan Ibragimov has been cut. Ibragimov takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. We've been told by Ibragimov's head coaches at Cozad MMA Los Angeles that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Schmidt throws a shot to the body.
Schmidt throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. #CL2# Schmidt closes the distance and clinches. Ibragimov could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Ibragimov is working for takedown but Schmidt is calmly controlling the position for now. Schmidt lands with a short shot to the head. Schmidt lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ibragimov. Ibragimov is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Schmidt wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ibragimov gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Schmidt gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Ibragimov is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

#R1# A telegraphed takedown attempt from Baird is defended easily by Ibragimov. Ibragimov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Baird tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ibragimov swivels and escapes. Ibragimov is looking to clinch but Baird is avoiding it.
#TD2# Ibragimov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Baird quickly recovers to half guard.#ES# Baird kicks off Ibragimov and gets to his feet. #TD2# Baird tries to sprawl but Ibragimov drives through with a takedown into half guard.#ES# Baird manages to escape and get back to his feet! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. #R1# A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ibragimov. Ibragimov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Ibragimov goes for a double leg but Rose avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rose continues to drive forward. Merle Rose has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Agaxan Ibragimov. Ibragimov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rose half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.#TD# Excellent takedown into side control there by Rose. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ibragimov looks winded! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gilliam is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Gilliam winds up and cracks Ibragimov with a swinging punch to the side of the head. #SUB# Gilliam is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ibragimov has hold of Gilliam's hands but Gilliam slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
