#R1# Dost throws a head kick that misses #TD# and Vargas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dost won't be happy with that. Dost is looking for a sweep. Vargas working the head and body with strikes. Vargas creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Dost sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Dost is looking to regain half guard here but Vargas keeps moving and retains side control. Vargas is chipping away with strikes.
Dost wants to control but Vargas postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vargas lands a nice forearm strike. Dost tries to improve position but can't. #T1# Dost can't do much from the bottom here. Vargas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Vargas landing a few strikes. Dost gets back to half guard. Dost prevents a body shot from Vargas. #TD# Dost is fighting off a takedown attempt but Vargas is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dost to the mat. Dost regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.#ES2# Dost is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Vargas presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.#TD2# Dost gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Vargas regains guard.

Dost showed some decent athleticism there. Vargas is controlling Dost's position as best he can from this difficult position.#T4# Vargas punching from the bottom.

Vargas pulls Dost in close to his closed guard and prevents Dost from doing any damage or advancing position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rigoberto Vargas will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. #R2# Dost throws a body kick, spinning off balance#TD# and Vargas counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. #ES2# Dost has one foot on Vargas's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Dost cracks Vargas with a right hand to the side of the head. Dost stuffs the takedown attempt from Vargas. Vargas gets slowly back to his feet. #TD2# Vargas gets caught napping as Dost dives in and scores a takedown. Vargas manages to retain guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dost wants to stand but Vargas is controlling his posture from full guard. #SUB2# Dost drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Vargas dives on top into guard.#REVR##T1# Vargas prevents Dost from getting back to his feet. Vargas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.#SU# Vargas stands up from guard. Let's bang! #TD2# Dost gets a takedown into half guard. Dost is breathing heavily. Vargas wants to control but Dost is keeping busy.
Vargas preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. #T2##ES# Vargas has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Dost is on him like a limpet, forcing Vargas back against the cage. Dost tries to work over Vargas's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Dost wants to stall.
#TD2# Dost is trying to trip Vargas. He has hold of a leg but Vargas is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dost persists though and gets the takedown into guard.#ES# Vargas is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!#TD2# Dost has picked Vargas up - he's going for a ride! Dost dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Vargas is trying to control but can't.
#T3# Vargas desperately trying to maintain half guard. #SUB# Vargas has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Dost. Oh but Vargas has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Dost goes limp - he's gone! Vargas jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

#R1##CL2# Dost forces Mercer back against the cage and clinches. Mercer gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Dost.
Dost tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
#BC2# Dost breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bas Dost seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dost fails with a takedown attempt. Heath Mercer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bas Dost. Dost throws a right hand that Mercer ducks under and follows up with a left that Mercer also avoids with ease. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dost lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Dost keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mercer. Dost misses with a few strikes there.
Dost is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mercer sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. #T1# Mercer lands a nice shot to the body.
Dost wants to clinch but Mercer slips to the side and Mercer counters with a nice uppercut. No luck with that takedown attempt from Dost. Dost bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Dost misses with an uppercut. Mercer saw that one coming.#TD# Mercer feints and as Dost raises his hands in defense, Mercer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mercer is working Dost over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Dost is trying to keep Mercer in close.

Mercer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mercer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mercer! #REVR# The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.#SUB# Dost is wriggling around trying to escape but Mercer has hooked up a rear naked choke! Is it over??? Is it... you're damn right it is! Dost taps out and Mercer picks up the big win! Great work there by Mercer!
