Pahlin tries to counter by clinching up but Regueiro breaks away and moves out of range. Pahlin motions for Regueiro to come forward. Pahlin throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Regueiro avoids the body shot from Pahlin.

We've been told by Pahlin's head coaches at Grounders Foundation that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Pahlin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Askren's head backwards.#TD2# Pahlin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Askren landing some decent shots from guard. Pahlin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Askren throws a big elbow that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Askren accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Askren scoring with punches to the head and body. Askren has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Askren is landing with some decent strikes but Pahlin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Matt Askren decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Williams stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Beater is looking for the KO!#CUT# It looks like Tyrell Williams has been cut. Williams slips a straight right by Beater. Williams has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Beater misses with a hook. Beater swings away with a body shot that misses
and Williams counters with a good low kick that Beater was not able to check. Wife Beater seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Beater. Beater throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Williams fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Beater has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Beater missing with a left hand there. Williams was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Williams now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Williams uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Beater.

#R1# Del Mundo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Del Mundo missing with a left hand there. Beater was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Del Mundo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Del Mundo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Del Mundo scores with the left hand. Beater knows he should have avoided that one. #TD2# Del Mundo gets the takedown into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Del Mundo happy to just control the position for now. #T2# You can see the frustration on Beater's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Brooks throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Beater on the side of the head. Beater takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Beater misses with a hook. Brooks looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Herb Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beater with a nice cross. Brooks connects with a single shot there. This has been an exciting period of action! A jab lands there for Brooks. Beater throws a right and a left that both miss.#CL2# Brooks closes the distance and pushes Beater back into the cage. Brooks has a couple of punches blocked by Beater.

That will dishearten Wood somewhat. It seemed like Beater was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Beater slips a straight right by Wood. Wood rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Beater moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Beater looks like he wants to counter punch here.
