#R1##TD2# Farooqi drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Farooqi showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Nikityuk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Nikityuk on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nikityuk tries to get out of the position. Farooqi wanted to stand there but Nikityuk had control of the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Farooqi passes into half guard. Farooqi looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. #T1# Farooqi is taking a breather. Nikityuk says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Nikityuk trying to hold on to Farooqi's head to control him but Farooqi postures up.
Farooqi not doing much here.
#REF3# The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.#T2# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Farooqi shoots for a double leg takedown but Nikityuk sprawls well. He's pushed Farooqi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. #TD2# Farooqi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Farooqi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nikityuk is proving hard to escape from. Nikityuk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
#SUB2# Farooqi drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Farooqi seems to have locked his on tight now - Nikityuk screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Farooqi, as he picks up the win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Abdul Farooqi!
