Vaziri I I I attempts a counter takedown but Ducks avoids it well and moves away.
Ducks's coach down at Animal FLEX Zone was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ducks's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Vaziri I I I lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Vaziri I I I's corner calls for a 1-2. Vaziri I I I obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Ducks throws a head kick but Vaziri I I I moves out of range.

Vaziri I I I feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ducks sprawling to the canvas! Ducks rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Vaziri I I I finish him?! #ROC#

This has been an exciting period of action!

Vaziri I I I drops Ducks with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Ducks looks back up at him and smiles so Vaziri I I I waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
A head kick by Vaziri I I I - that's a beauty! Ducks is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Vaziri I I I can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Hossein Vaziri I I I!
Hossein Vaziri I I I decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Ducks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Whysocki on the ground.

It looks like Whysocki might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Whysocki working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
