#R1# Martins wants to clinch and counters with a stiff right hand. Martins darts in looking for a takedown but gets double underhooks and turns Martins into the cage. Martins has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Martins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has pinned against the cage. gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Martins tries to close the distance and clinch but swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Martins swings for the body but moves out of range.
#TD# decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.#ES2# Martins manages to escape and get back to his feet! Martins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Croce is working away from the top position though. #R1# Martins goes for a double leg but Barr avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Barr continues to drive forward. Barr attempts a counter takedown but Martins avoids it well and moves away. Joe Martins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Martins tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Barr manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Martins looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Martins tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Barr defends well and Martins ends up having to push Barr into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Geoffrey Barr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Martins .#TD# Barr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Barr showed some decent athleticism there. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
