#R1##TD2# Thomas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Martin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Thomas throwing strikes from guard but Martin blocks nicely. Thomas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Thomas throws a big elbow that misses. Thomas trying to control but Martin is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Martin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Thomas tries to free his leg and advance position but Martin is retaining full guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.#T1# Martin is pulling down on Thomas 's head. It's preventing any offense from Thomas , at least for the moment.#REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.#CL2# Thomas has Martin up against the cage in a clinch.
Thomas is trying to break the clinch but Martin has him pressed against the cage. Both fighters working to control the clinch. #BC# Martin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Phil Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Thomas . Martin is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Martin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Thomas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Thomas stops a takedown attempt from Martin.

We're back to striking at a distance. Martin fails with a takedown attempt. Thomas lands with a kick to the temple. Martin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Thomas shoots in for a takedown but Martin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Martin tries for a takedown but Thomas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Martin is breathing heavily. Martin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Martin shoots in looking for a takedown. Thomas tries to sprawl out of it but Martin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thomas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. No luck for Thomas with that takedown attempt. Thomas moves out of range of the leg kick from Martin.#T4# Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown but Martin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thomas 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Martin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Thomas goes for a double leg but Martin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Martin continues to drive forward.#CL2# Thomas gets in close and instigates a clinch. #TD2# Thomas manages to pull guard.
#SUB2# Thomas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Martin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Martin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Thomas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Martin is stalling in the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aaron Thomas dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! #R2##CL2# Thomas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Martin, pushing him back against the cage.#TD# Martin jumps guard and drags Thomas to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Thomas trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Martin trying to control the position.
#SU2# Thomas gets to his feet. Martin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thomas throws a jab when Martin was well out of range. Martin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Thomas is looking to clinch. Thomas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martin's waist but Martin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thomas off to one side. Thomas tries to clinch but Martin moves out of range. #T1##TD2# Thomas closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Martin did well to prevent Thomas getting side control. Thomas controlling the pace. Martin trying to control but Thomas postures up.
Thomas wants to stand but Martin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Thomas is keen to just control but Martin is a slippery customer.#T2##SUB# Martin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Thomas has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Thomas prevents Martin from standing back up.
#REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Thomas fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Thomas throws a front kick that sends Martin stumbling back into the cage. Martin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thomas pinned against the cage. Thomas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Thomas looks like he wants to counter punch here. Thomas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Martin misses with a takedown attempt - Thomas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.#T4##TD2# Thomas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Thomas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Martin keeps working. Thomas lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Martin wants to control but Thomas postures up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Thomas scoring with punches and elbows. Thomas tries to advance to mount but Martin denies him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Aaron Thomas will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! #R3# Martin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thomas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Thomas wants to slow Martin down by chopping away at his legs. #TD2# Thomas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.#ES# Martin has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Thomas is on him like a limpet, forcing Martin back against the cage. Thomas jumps guard but Martin stands there with Thomas around his waist. Thomas gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Damn, that's gotta suck. #SUB2# Thomas looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Thomas prevents Martin from getting the reversal. Phil Martin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Aaron Thomas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.#SUB2# Thomas looking for a guillotine from mount but Martin is having none of it.
